How to Set a Social Share Image on WordPress (Using Yoast SEO)

For WordPress users, the Yoast SEO plugin makes it simple to add social share images to your pages and posts.

Steps to Set a Social Share Image in Yoast:

  1. Install and activate the Yoast SEO plugin.
  2. In your post or page editor, scroll down to the Yoast SEO box.
  3. Click on the Social tab.
  4. Upload your image under the Facebook Image and Twitter Image fields.
  5. Save your changes.

With Yoast, you can also customize the title and description that will appear alongside the social share image.

How to Add In Squarespace

Squarespace users can add social share images through the platform's page settings.

  1. In your Squarespace dashboard, go to Pages.
  2. Click the gear icon next to the page you want to edit.

For Shopify users, adding a social share image is straightforward.

Steps to Set a Social Share Image on Shopify:

  1. In your Shopify admin, go to Online Store > Preferences.
  2. In the Social Sharing Image section, upload your image.
  3. For individual products or pages, go to the product or page editor and upload an image under Social Sharing Options.

How to Set One on Showit

Steps to add a Social Share Image on Showit:

  1. Open your page in the Showit designer.
  2. Select the page from the left-hand panel and go to the SEO Settings tab in the right-hand sidebar.
  3. In the Share Image field, upload your desired image.
  4. Click Publish to save your changes.

💡 For blog posts (managed via WordPress on Showit), make sure to set a Featured Image in the WordPress editor to serve as the social share image or use the Yoast plugin.

After updating your featured image or Open Graph tags, Facebook might still show the old version when sharing your post.

To fix that, use the Facebook Sharing Debugger. Just paste your URL and click “Scrape Again” and it’ll force Facebook to re-pull the most recent data from your site.
