Definition:
Click-Through Rate (CTR) is the percentage of people who saw your page in search results (impressions) and clicked on it.
In Google Search Console, CTR = Clicks ÷ Impressions.
If 100 people see your blog post in search and 5 click through, your CTR is 5%.
Why It Matters:
CTR tells you how effective your title tags and meta descriptions are at capturing attention — and how well your page matches search intent.
A low CTR might mean:
- You’re ranking, but not compelling
- Your title or description isn’t aligned with the query
- You’re just below the top results (and not being seen)
A high CTR means you’re standing out, even if you’re not in the #1 spot.
Where It Fits in Your Strategy:
Think of CTR like curb appeal.
If your website shows up in Google’s “neighborhood,” is your front porch inviting enough to make someone stop and visit?
Improving CTR is one of the fastest, simplest SEO wins with no new content required.
